Imatra Base Camp is a non-profit subsidiary 100% owned by the City of Imatra. We are responsible for developing sports and recreational tourism in Imatra. Our target is to support teams, clubs, and travel organizers in planning their events in Imatra, including training camps, competitions, and tournaments. We provide a one-stop solution for managing all necessary arrangements, including accommodation offers, sports facility bookings, and additional services.
Our services are free of charge for customers.
Cycling
In Ukonniemi, Imatra, you can combine an active holiday, an efficient training camp and maximise the recovery in a relaxing spa.
The substantial number of cycling routes in the Imatra region, the scenery of Lake Saimaa and the excellent accommodation options enable high-quality training conditions for road, gravel, and mountain biking. Whether you are travelling alone, with a group of friends, with family or with a club, Imatra can offer everything you need!
Cycling conditions are complemented by a variety of accommodation options, supplementary services, and leisure activities. In addition, Imatra Base Camp helps bring it all together for the training groups!

Saimaa Archipelago Route
The Saimaa Archipelago Route, which runs through Imatra, is a 156-kilometre-long marked route along which you can enjoy the beautiful lake landscapes of southern Saimaa, the rural atmosphere and culturally and geologically significant sites. Along the route is a 30-minute ferry connection from Sarviniemi to Kyläniemi. The Saimaa Archipelago Route connects to the Puumala Archipelago Route by road, and there is also a ferry connection from Sarviniemi to Lintusalo (Puumala).

MTB routes
Imatra and its surrounding areas are a region rich in paths and varied terrain, with hundreds of kilometres of adventure for cyclists.
Four multi-use routes have been planned and marked in the Ukonniemi area in 2021.

Saimaa Bike Park
In Ruokolahti, only a 20-minute drive from Imatra, you can find the downhill biking hub Saimaa Bikepark. Rent a downhill bike, take the lift all the way up to the top and enjoy the beautiful Saimaa scenery and versatile downhill trails!
Karhumäki Pumptrack in Ukonniemi
The cycling conditions in Imatra are complemented by a local masterpiece – Karhumäki pumptrack. The track is well-suited for both beginners and advanced cyclists, and it offers the whole family a wonderful opportunity to spend active leisure time in the immediate vicinity of the accommodation buildings.
Winter trails
In the Ukonniemi sports tourism area of Imatra, there is an actively maintained 18 kilometers winter trail full of fun and suitable challenges. The meandering path through forests, past Saimaa's beaches and forest ponds will make you forget the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

The Ukonniemi area has a wide range of accommodation to suit every need. The total of around 4,000 beds ensures that there is plenty of choice throughout the year.

Saimaa Life & Saimaa Light holiday apartments
Saimaa Life has six two-storey cabins that are made from ecological materials and have a total of 25 apartments of varying sizes. The apartments have a kitchen, a terrace or a spacious balcony, and an electric sauna. Saimaa Light Apartments are an excellent choice for sport groups. Saimaa Life & Saimaa Light holiday apartments are located in the heart of Ukonniemi right next to the Imatra Spa Arena.

Imatra Spa offers comfortable accommodation in a spa environment by the beautiful Lake Saimaa only 1.5 km from the sports facilities. The selection of the spa hotel ranges from economic Sport rooms to high quality holiday apartments. Holiday Club Saimaa boasts a magnificent location by Lake Saimaa only a 5 minute drive from the sports facilities in Ukonniemi. The accommodation options and services on the Saimaa Archipelago Route have been compiled in a user-friendly way under the Saimaa Cycling website. You can find accommodation to suit most tastes and budgets: spa and city hotels, cottage accommodation on the shores of Lake Saimaa, affordable hostels, and farm accommodation.
Additional services
Ukonniemi testing center
The Ukonniemi testing center offers services to private individuals and groups. The testing services are intended for people exercising for fitness as well as top athletes of different sports.
The testing center services include versatile possibilities for determining health, body composition, muscle balance, respiratory and circulatory system health and the performance of the neuromuscular system. Nearly all available testing services can also be performed outside the center in a sport-specific environment.
Wattbike
Wattbike fitness bikes can be rented for training camps to be used in supplemental training and tests. Wattbikes are used by NHL and KHL in their official tests.
Leisure time activities
The Ukonniemi area offers a wide range of leisure time activities. For example a cruise on a sauna raft, a visit to a rope adventure park, or tailored team building programme are excellent ways to enhance the team spirit. The area also includes a Frisbee golf and golf courses, tennis courts, and two bowling alleys for leisure time activities.
