Theatre Imatra – The Great Stage
Theatre Imatra – The Great Stage
Imatra’s new Theatre was constructed and opened in the city centre in February 2017. The new Theatre has a 202-seat auditorium with auxiliary rooms (incl. 4 wheelchair spaces).
The City of Imatra has purchased art for the new Theatre based on a ‘percentage principle.’ The selected artists were Landys Roimola, who graduated from Saimaa University of Applied Sciences in 2014, and Reetta Ahonen, a graphic artist from Imatra. Ahonen created a work of art for the Theatre’s cafe, while Roimola created a droplet-themed work of art for the building’s facade using graphic concrete. Arts Promotion Centre Finland has supported the art acquisitions of the new Theatre.
