Figure skating
The modern dual-rink Imatra ice arena is located in the Ukonniemi area, where all sports facilities are a walking distance apart. The area offers an excellent setting for training camps, competitions, and skating shows. Imatra OmaSp Arena (Ottelukatu 1, Imatra) has acted as the training camp venue for various foreign and Finnish figure and synchronized skating clubs. The Imatra ice arena is famous for the high quality of its ice, and for being excellently suited for training camps.
Services of the Imatra Spa Arena and other training facilities
Imatra OmaSp Arena offers diverse training and maintenance premises and excellent sound reproduction systems for sports camps, competitions, and shows. Other training facilities in the Ukonniemi area supplement the services of the ice arena.
Rink 1
A 28 x 60 m rink with flexible dasher boards.
A 1,200-seat auditorium and a direct view of the ice rink from the restaurant.
Rink 2
A 26 x 56 m practise rink.

Running track / supplemental training premises
The lounge of the Imatra Spa Arena serves as supplemental training premises with a running track surfaced for off-ice training. At the end of the lounge there is a big mirror that can be used in training and it can be covered away by sliding doors. The premises also have other supplemental training equipment, such as hurdles and exercise mats.
Dressing rooms
The Imatra Spa Arena has nine dressing rooms for athletes. These can be equipped with movable driers during camps to ensure the drying of equipment between training sessions. Separate dressing rooms with showers and toilets are available for trainers and maintenance staff.
Maintenance and storage premises of the Imatra Spa Arena
Separate storage space and drying cabinets can be arranged for the use of sport camps. The laundry room has 2 washing machines and 3 large tumble dryers.
Maintenance personnel also has access to a separate sharpening room with skate-sharpening and other maintenance equipment.
Conference premises of the Imatra Spa Arena
There is a conference room equipped with a large screen on the 2nd floor of the arena building right next to the restaurant. The room can be used for e.g. lectures and giving video feedback.
The room has a direct view of the ice rink.
Ukonniemi Arena
Ukonniemi Arena is the largest indoor sports facility in South Karelia and it provides an excellent setting for supplemental training;
a five-lane running track and athletics field with a Polytan M (IAAF CLASS 1) surfacing.
A full-length football field with artificial turf surfacing (104 x 67m).
Other supplemental training facilities in the Ukonniemi area for skaters
- Imatra Spa has a gym, a mirror room, an indoor ball game facility, and a spinning room
- Athletics stadium, artificial turf field, outdoor gym, long outdoor stairs for exercise
- Tennis Hall, outdoor tennis
- An extensive and hilly hiking trail network for running training
Accommodation and catering
The Ukonniemi area has a wide range of accommodation to suit every need. The total of around 4,000 beds ensures that there is plenty of choice throughout the year, with some options being right next to training facilities.
Hotel Rento
Hotel Rento is the largest log building in Northern Europe. It offers comfortable accommodation in a total of 29 rooms. The hotel is located next to the ice rink in the heart of Ukonniemi and specialises in sports groups. For example the content and timing of meals can be tailored to the needs of each individual group.
Saimaa Life & Saimaa Light holiday apartments
Saimaa Life has six two-storey cabins that are made from ecological materials and have a total of 25 apartments of varying sizes. The apartments have a kitchen, a terrace or a spacious balcony, and an electric sauna. Saimaa Light Apartments are an excellent choice for sport groups. Saimaa Life & Saimaa Light holiday apartments are located in the heart of Ukonniemi right next to the Imatra Spa Arena.
Imatra Spa Resort
Imatra Spa offers comfortable accommodation in a spa environment by the beautiful Lake Saimaa only 1.5 km from the sports facilities. The selection of the spa hotel ranges from economic Sport rooms to high quality holiday apartments. In addition to the pools, the spa has a gym, an indoor ball game facility, indoor sports facilities, and physiotherapist and massage services.
Holiday Club Saimaa
Holiday Club Saimaa boasts a magnificent location by Lake Saimaa only a 5 minute drive from the sports facilities in Ukonniemi. Whether you stay in the spa hotel or holiday apartments, you will be ideally located to enjoy the wide range of leisure time services found in the area. Holiday Club Saimaa has a gym, padel- and tennis courses and other sports facilities.
Hotel Rauhan Marina Village
Spacy holiday apartments with 2 bedrooms, living room and own well equipped kitchen. Sauna with large hall and kitchen on the ground floor. Located nearby the Holiday Club Saimaa. Good choice for sport camp groups.
Ice rink restaurant – Café 57
Café 57 is located at the ice rink and serves customer during its opening hours. The restaurant provides team meals for camps, tournaments, and games subject to order. Also snacks, dressing room catering, and the like are available subject to order.

We can also organise all support services for training camps, competitions, and events.
Figure skating training services
On-ice and off-ice training services can be organised through SM-Skating School. In addition to the principal trainer Marina Shirshova, supplemental training can be provided by a choreographer, a ballet teacher, and a physiotherapist.
Ukonniemi testing center
The Ukonniemi testing center offers services to private individuals and groups. The testing services are intended for people exercising for fitness as well as top athletes of different sports.
The testing center services include versatile possibilities for determining health, body composition, muscle balance, respiratory and circulatory system health and the performance of the neuromuscular system. Nearly all available testing services can also be performed outside the center in a sport-specific environment.
Lighting and audio production
Imatra Spa Arena is also suited to organising figure skating shows. We assist in lighting and audio production where required.
Bus transportation
Where required, we will organise transportation to and from Imatra as well as any on-site transportation needed.
Leisure time activities
The Ukonniemi area offers a wide range of leisure time activities. For example a cruise on a sauna raft, a visit to a rope adventure park, or tailored team building programme are excellent ways to enhance the team spirit. The area also includes a Frisbee golf and golf courses, tennis courts, and two bowling alleys for leisure time activities.

Capital Area Phoenix Ice Show and Skating Camp
Capital Area Phoenix organised a figure skating camp in Imatra ice arena in summer 2017. The camp was topped off with an ice show. Olympic medallist Gary Beacom was the star of both the camp and the show.
SM Skating School
Marina Shirshova's SM Skating School has organized several figure skating training camps in Imatra since summer 2018.
